Yes, they can be the masters of camouflage and disguise and while this is a wonderful macro of said Praying Mantis, it's not really being hidden or camouflaged very well now is it? I would have liked this much better if it was further back and showing me how it was hiding itself. The focus seems a bit soft overall, even on the face part. But again, wonderful effort on the whole. A 7
If photographed from a greater distance, it would be camouflaged against the leaf it it probably on. As it is, it isn't in hiding at all. Photographically the focus is soft and it needs more DOF to get the antenae as well as the head.
Entomological discussions aside, this is a very good micro shot. As a challenge entry, I think it would have been stronger if you showed more of his environment.
