thanks alot for all the comments and the lights or light streaks are actually spot lights from the top of Rockefeller center (Topoftherock.com) this is wear the photo was taken
Adjusting the shutter speed to be a tad faster would have cut down on the amount of light let through and thus exposed the Empire State Building better. I do love how you captured some beams of light that shine down on the city (lights from a helicopter or plane?) It makes for a wonderful addition to the composition. I also love the hues of the night sky along with the cresent moon seen there in the shot - and I see Venus up just above the moon! (I tried capturing a shot of the cresent moon and venus a few weeks ago) Wonderful composition - it's just the lighting that needs a little work.
This is a beautiful, stunning picture. I wish it had been in a Cityscape challenge because it would have been a 10 - for a Landscape it is okay but not really a LANDscape. It is so lovely.
