My cat Maia lying on my bed. Used two flashes fired simultaneously. My white beddings helped quite a bit and the dual flash limited the amount of shadows for this image.
Adjusted levels and curves. USM.

I really like unusual animal portraits. This is really interesting. I love the sky blue of her/his eyes and the way the head is dark and the body goes light. Darling.
I agree about not seeing a huge amount of detail around the nose area. The blown highlights are there, but I don't think they really take away from the shot at all. Beautiful shot though, and she's (he?) an adorable cat!
On my monitor I'm not picking up a huge amount of detail around his (her) nose! The eyes don't look quite sharp either! Parts of the body seem slightly blown as well. A fun photo though!
