Went to Seoul station with the purpose to shoot any of the countless homeless people living in and around the station. There were a number of church people singing, praying and above all, imo, handing out food to these people. This old man, in a drunken stupor just received his kimbab, closed his eyes, thanked them and walked off. This shot was taken as he thanked the young people for the food.

When I originally saw this I got the idea that it was a daughter encouraging her father. So that is how I will keep thinking of it, even though I know it is not so.
This was one of my favorites in the challenge, and without even knowing it was yours!
It is such a powerful image! The grain works so great here, and so is the b&w.
I admit I didn't quite get the title, as I never thought they were homeless, but still... something in this picture pulled me right into it.
Originally, I gave it a 9. Only one very little thing I would try to change: I would try to burn very little the highlights above the guy's shoulder. I thought it took more attention then it should, and almost made me miss that amazing ray of light on the guy's cheek.
Something in this process make it look like a pencil sketch.
Can I add this photo to my favorites one more time?
This is beautiful -- especially knowing the story behind it. I had the same idea to capture a homeless person in their dark hopeless world. Thought it would have made a great grain picture -- but I didn't have time to pull it off. You've done a great job capturing that spirit tho. I love it. I agree too that it should have scored much higher. Your commenters got it right tho :)
This is a most unusual and interesting photograph. It seems as if the woman is not actually present, but is merely a vision of the man's memory, which is presumably exactly the effect you were intending. This idea is supported by the composition (the two figures appear disconnected), by the apparent age difference (she's the right age to be a memory for him), and by the use of grain to establish the hazy, dream-like atmosphere. I suspect the man is actually posed in front of a photograph of the woman, in which case the use of grain is doubly effective because of the illusion it creates. Either way, I hope you DON'T tell us how you achieved this fascinating image; I prefer to believe the illusion. 8
Of all the people shots, this is my favorite. The movement flows so well with the grain, I can actually see the continuation of where they were going, what they were doing. Love the composition and the juxtaposition. Hate the title - for me it doesn't fit. OH well. 9 - good luck in the challenge!
wow actuall grain, visible and everything, rather rare in this challenge. I wish there was a touch less blur on the man's mustache and zipper, and that the two heads didn't overlap. Never the less one of the best examples of grain in the challenge.
Absolute perfection...the movement within this image is amazing to say the least...but then there are the souls...and these are what truly elevates this above much of the rest.
