Sorry, I see this sculpture as being a personification by the sculptor, not the photographer. I also find the snails crawling in the hair make me feel uncomfortable, and the blurred lines (cobwebs?) in the foreground take away from the clarity of the image.
In my opinion, statues are imitation rather than personification. I like the composition. The DOF works very well. Kinda creeped out by the snail in her ear but not considering it in voting.
A very unique subject for the challenge. I love the concept. It could be a very moving piece. However, to me, the picture did not capture what could have been expressed.
Maybe I'm too literal, the contest rules states, "...non-human-looking but yet still shows human characteristics..." A very nice and artistic pic though. Nice job!
