Shot in macro mode. I was looking for flowers for a friendship shot, but could only find these synthetic flowers in a local grave yard. Cropped and increased contrast and saturation.

I like the colors, the lighting and the border, but flower photos are typically considered to pretty easy to do and thus they need to be pretty outstanding to score well here. Composition wise, I’d take just a little off the left side of the photo to make it fit the rule of thirds a little better.
Also, as your comments say, it really hurts that it’s a fake flower. This exact same photo with a real flower would probably score at least a full point higher. I doubt you’d ever see a fake flower on a greeting card.
I hope you find this helpful, good luck on future challenges.
i think this is a good photo but i think if you used the etheral glow it might give the flower a real feel and take away from it looking like a fake flower
Good idea, but the fact that this is a fabric rose kind of wrecks it for me. If this were a real rose, I would have graded it higher. If this were to be used for a card, I think the only way you could get away with using a fabric rose is to texturize the entire image to appear like a woven image.
It's a pretty shot. But the fact that it's a fake flower in a friendship card seems to send the wrong message. I think I would prefer a genuine flower, even if it wasn't as perfect.
This is unusual. You don't often see close-ups of artificial flowers, so you get bonus points for originality. It might be more effective to extend the depth of field about another 1/2 inch (or 1.3cm), because the center petals look out of focus.
Did you mean for the threads to show on the edges of the silk rose? It's kind of symbolic. Your friend is as frazzled as you are? That's said with a smile and not meant to slam your picture. Technically, it's very good, and I really like the blurring i the background.
