I want desperately to clone out those specks in the bottom left. There are little imperfections in the paper that the shell was resting on, and really lit up the way the light was shining across them.
I must say I'm baffled by the "out of focus" comments.

I like this, however, I like your outtake better. The outtake IMO is more natural (orientation of the shell) and a bit brighter. Plus I like the appearance of sand in the outtake. The lighting on your entry is low and leaves the top back side of the shell a little dark.
The concept is wonderful and I think you have a winning idea here that could do well in print sales. Keep up the good work!
Really interesting. I love imaginative ideas such as these. Maybe a touch blurred though. I wonder if you could've gotten the shell tack sharp? I do like the use of negative space and it certainly meets the challenge.
