This shot was set up in my garage with the door closed, so as not to bother my neighbors. Note: Ear plugs were a must (numerous takes) - With camera on tripod (behind the removable glass taken from my storm door) I performed a double exposure. First exposure: Just the firecracker (under soft spot lighting). Second exposure: The firecracker right after lighting wick (no artificial lighting was needed for second exposure). I checked with DPChallenge staff about the use of (in the camera) double exposures before submitting it - received their OK.

Cool image. Look at those twirling lights! I also appreciate how you lit the canister so we could see the source of the "pow" The lights are so intersting it almost makes you forget the obvious sound.
Wow, slomo roman candle! That's neat; I love the arcs of light following the sparks, and at least the feel that the lighting is provided only by it even if that's not the case. For me, though, this sort of firework is more visual than aural; I don't consider it off-topic at all but it's not as strong a topical image as it might have been with a different type of firework shot (and will no doubt be stronger for others).
