The Silver Island Mountains are in extreme western Utah near Wendover. This photo is actually taken from the Bonneville Raceway (salt flats).
PP: This was quite difficult, since I really needed to work on the top and bottom separately. But we do what we have to do! I first checked each of the channels to see which looked best. In the end, Lab Color: Lightness channel looked best, so I simply converted to grayscale from that, then fiddled with levels. Of course all was for naught, since as soon as I converted to a web image, and could only save at 85% or so, my tones, my wonderful subtle tones--were lost. Oh well; I hope you can imagine this in its subtle grandeur!

I can't see how this placed 107th. I think in this particular challenge, people disregarded the theme, and voted on photos like they would for a stock photography challenge. This is well coordinated. Your subjects fit.
I'm going to ignore my knee-jerk response of "Does Not Meet Challenge" by assuming the bush is at the proper point and give this an 8. Great picture. Next time, the division between the white sand and the dark mountains should be a third of the height from the top of the frame. Right now, the blank sky takes up too much room for so little interest.
