My son Zach is holding a bubble created with a product called "Catch a Bubble" (about $2 a tube at Wal Mart or you can get it at zooscape.com) which creates bubbles that you can touch without popping 'em. This is the same product I used for my Fragile image.
Lit by 1 Alien Bee B400 with a brolly box on the front. Black velvet background.

Really like this shot. I love the chopsticks with the bubble and your subject's expression is great. Crisp focus and love the black background. Great Job --7--
"Beginna Luck" - Mr. Myagi. Seriously, I really like this image. Nice clarity, and lighting. I like the play of the shadows obscuring part of the face and the clothes blending into the background. The composition is good but I would've preferred that most of the focus be on the chopsticks holding the bubble, instead of the model's face. Right now the bubble seems incidental instead of central. There is some soft focus on the arm that is a bit distracting and I'd like for the entire chopstick to be in the image instead of cut off at the end. Overall I gave a 6.
Hey! Didn't have time to vote on this challenge, but I'd still like to say GREAT picture. Nice idea. The boy has great eyes and great expression.
FWIW, Zen masters typically use their chopsticks closer to the other end as a demonstration of control, but your technique isn't bad :).
There is actually a whole set of superstitions about where you hold the chopsticks comfortably. They are pretty typically nonsense, but one says that the closer you hold to the end, the older you will be when you marry!
very good. the composion is good, and so is the light.
I can think of another comp for this that I think is better, but explaining it is too long.
Ok, since you ask: have the bubble higher, roughly on level with eyes, about on the intersection on the lines of thrirds, with 2 diagonal lines pointing to it (chopstick and arm) from the far lower corner. /8
Good lighting on the subject, and I like the pose and seriousness look. Very cool how you were able to get the chopsticks in line with the bubble. Good work.
Congratulatiions on a great idea well performed!! The expression of the model is superb and the lighting makes this shot a strong candidate for a ribbon.
Might this be Zach? If so Dave, youv'e been making a mess with your catch a bubble.Great lighting, skin tones, and composition. He pops right out. Good luck!
Wonderful! Love the lighting on the subject. The background is complementary to the image and makes the subject pop off of the screen. Not to mention the expression and the pose of the subject as he holds a tiny delicate bubble between those chopsticks. Great job!
Aha, I'm entertained by this one. The reflection on the bubble seems a bit strange, almost if I'm looking at your light source, which appears to be a lamp.
I like the idea though, and that black background with you fading into makes it all that mor enigmatic. It explains the chopstick talent. ;) 9
