This Confederate Cemetary is really a mass burial site. Most of the graves are unmarked with the exception of about a dozen. Of the marked graves, most of the men were about 22 years old through about 38 years old.
This memorial remembers the fallen Confederate soldiers that died trying to defend the remaining RR to Atlanta in the 2 day Battle of Jonesboro that took place Aug 31 & Sept 1, 1864. They were greatly outnumbered by Federal Troops.
