FOR THE RECORD: This image was taken shortly after I bought my 20D, and the shop had set the time/date stamp for me. They set it 12 hours off. I shot this at dawn of the first day of the challenge, and it stamped to 6PM of the day BEFORE the challenge :-( I didn't discover this until EXIF was requested, at which point I notified SC of the error... Original placement was a yellow ribbon at 7+ score.
If ONLY this sunrise had occurred on Tuesday instead of Monday, it wouldn't have mattered :-(

Love the colors on this, and the lines of the clouds and the shore/reed line have an amazing effect of drawing you deep into the scene. Excellent shot. Too bad on the DQ.
I like your own analysis of your picture (in the "Cheater, cheater ..." thread). It is not presumptuos to analyse your own pictures, but it is quite daring to do so in public :)
To me, you picture is beautiful because it speaks of peace, gentleness and kindness, and good times outdoors, and because it has strong and vibrant colours. It is a very restful picture, yet not at all static. It makes me go, "Ahhhh!", and then, "I need to go for a walk!".
I'm sorry you couldn't keep the ribbon for it. It is a virtual ribbon, but so much fun.
Ah no! What a disaster! Hard luck, man - This was a deserving ribbon winner and it's a shame to see it DQed for such a silly mistake after all the hard work had been done! Either way, digital trinket or no, it's an image to be proud of :)
This is extra beautiful, I always check on the DQ'S, I love to look at them all. This pic makes me wonder why I ever left New England. Thanks for the memories.
Bad luck Robt - your image was very impressive. The colours are sublime (I must admit, I see the colour contrast rather more than any than luminosity contrast).
Keep that 20D charged in future (how did the date get reset? My backup battery seems to keep forever).
It was never properly set to begin with; it was 12 hours off. Dumb error.

Darn those time stamps! You don't need me to tell you that this shot is absolutely amazing! Surely no consolation for a lost ribbon; but it's going right into my favorites...or not? It won't let me do that, I take it? OK, it's my new desktop, then.
Congrats on the ribbon Rob, you look like you are having a lot of fun with the new toys, which are helping to produce some excellent images, well done.
I had figured it was yours as soon as I saw it, and so I deliberately saved it so I could compose an especially juicy comment. Alas, I entirely forgot to get back to it! So now I'll just say I'm pleased you have got a little bit more of the recognition you deserve ,,, for terrific but often bold photography, and patient but always sharply focused advice. You're DPC's premier mentor, Robert. Bravo!
Thanks for all the lovely comments. I almost didn't enter this because I knew it would blow my anononymity out of the water, but then I thought "What the hell, it's the best shot you've taken all summer and it fits the challenge, so..."
I wasn't the least surprised at all the comments during voting that pegged this one as being mine :-)
Awesome job, my friend. One of the few 10's I doled out and it was richly deserved. When you're rich and famous I can say "I knew that guy." (well, sort of) LOL
Thought this was yours...something about that boat looked familiar. Thanks for the all the High contrast info in the forums. Big congrats on your ribbon, Robert!
I'd say this is bear_music's... feels slightly familliar :) Nice colours, good darkness/light balance. The boat would add much more to the athmosphere if it was wooden. 8.
Breathtaking shot! This is one that just makes me say "Wow". Lovely colors, the composition is wonderful and the reflections are amazing. Forgive me for the "only praise" comment but there's just nothing "wrong" about this photo. :-)
Two compositional comments: Horizon might be straight but it feels like it is a bit tilted to the right and the horizon s a bit in the centre of the frame.
However, the way the lines work and how the boat is position compensates a lot for that. Love the color and the light on the grass vs the trees, the sky and the reflection. 9
Bear as always, these images are stunning! You never seem to miss a beautiful sky color. The comp is wonderful as the DOF in this image. I never get tired seeing images such as this. I need to get a 10-22 :)
love the colors in the sky and the clear reflection but looks a little over-processed to me; overall pretty dark, especially in the lower left; but a very nice image just the same
WOW. Now there's an amazing sunset! The reflection on the water makes it even better, although the crowning point is the light on the cloud fronts. You're very lucky to have seen this!
Nice shot bear...I like seeing a good color contrast pic in this challenge. The reflection and distant horizon give this image a 3D feel. You must have been drooling when you saw the sky light up like that! ;^)
Lovely colours, a beautiful sense of calm and the river draws your eye up the picture, but I can't stand the border(just a personal thing and it won't affect my vote much but it really spoils the picture for me)
I'm not all that technical and while there is definitely a nice high contrast area on the upper right of your photo, other parts are similar in tonal values. I think this is a beautiful and peaceful photo though.
Good job, old bear. This is a very nice example of a high-contrast colour image. I like this one a lot. I love how it goes from light to dark when travelling right to left.
