This photo was taken in the Lusu Hilltribe in Northern Thailand on a 4 day trek. I loved traveling to remote villages and often remarked on how ‘a smile shatters 1,000 barriers.’ Even when you cannot communicate with words, I have found that a simple smile will often gain you others’ acceptance. Experiences like this have made me become increasingly interested in developing countries, which has ultimately led me to join the Peace Corps.
