Sisters.. siblings.. the honest love of two children. This is not a challenge where children will do well.. but I have wanted to do a shot like this for a very long time, and I was finally given the extra incentive I needed to finally do it.
Here's to maybe bucking the anti-kid trend, if only for a little while.
P.S. Given the current trend of the site, and especially the forums, I expect to lose out to a lot of "erotica". If this should happen, this is a reminder not to be bitter about having done so. Human nature and all that, take it in stride.
If I happen to beat out the "erotica", however.
NYAH NYAH NYAH!

This was the one that got me in awe of your photography. The mix of skin tones is wonderful, the framing is masterful, the result is beautiful. It is clearly better than the 8 placed above it.
wow...not sure you need ANOTHER comment on this one! LOL I gave you a 9 on it during the challenge. The simplicity and lighting are wonderful. The very relaxed feel to the whole thing is a credit to you as the photographer. Love it!
You know, the more I browse the work of the experienced photographers on this site, the more I realize that GOOD photography isn't about light, but it's about shadow.
You have captured something here that is really incredible. Your mastery of light, (and the lack of light) is evident. Added to favorites, adding you as a favorite photographer, and I look forward to whatever entries you grace us with in the future.
This is just simply - beautiful. This was a 10 in my books. I am disgusted at the fact that it came in lower in the ranks :( The bond between these two shows in the image. Just an incredible capture throughout :)
For the record, I didn't use neat-image, or a smoothing program.. sorry. My black & white conversion and the skin of little girls was *that* culprit.. but thanks for assuming. Appreciate it.
I'm entirely excited about my first ever 7+ score. It's an honor and a major achievement, especially since it was achieved using children in a nude challenge (even if a lot of people thought Breeanna, who is only 8, was the mother, or an adult.) I'm really happy I hit 10th place too and stayed on the "visible" page.. that's a gas.
For everyone that finished above me.. congratulations, your tits and muscles beat me. *big grin*
For everyone that finished below me, keep trying.. I've finished in your positions many, many, many... many times.
This marks my official hiatus. It's a great note to end on, and I'll see you in comments and in the forums, but the challenges aren't where I want my photography to be these days.
It's been a gas.. and.. hey.. comment some on this and get me to the 150 comment mark eh? That'd *really* rock.
I love this image. I think the soft light from above and the expression on the child's face is beautiful. Very nice use of light and representation of motherhood. 10.
This one gets the only 10 I'm giving out in this challenge. It's the simplicity of the image and the baby's eyes that have me hooked. The perfect smoothness of their skin contrasts beautifully with the only other texture in the image, the unruly hair. You should be very proud of this exquisite image.
The contrast between the woman's skin tone and the child's is great. To me, the skin is to smooth but I think it is something that is well liked, in general, on this site. The lighting is excellent.
A striking image, makes the most of the contrasting skin tones of the mother and the baby. Well thought out in terms of the photographer's point-of-view. This is sure to score very high. 7
A beautiful shot that I'm sure the mother will cherish for a long time to come. I like the contrast in their hair color, and the super job with the skin tones. Super!
This is the Blue Ribbon in my eyes...
The lighting is inspired - the kid looks like an angel bathed in heavenly light - and that's coming from an atheist!!!
It's a beautiful, touching, universal image.
A wonderful photograph! The expression is priceless! The mood set by this shot is very serene and totally evident. Well done! Excellent lighting control and perfect compotision! Overall very nice and pleasing image...bumping up to a 10. Very nice job!
This is a very odd feeling image. I think that the woman and the child are a bit too close in size unsettling my "this is normal" braincells. Good luck.
Very crips lighting. Makes the skin soft and uniform, nice work. I find the composition to be lacking a little bit tho, as the framing and model position is a bit off (too much to the left). Eyes of the child are great. 8
honestly, my first thought was 'that's a big child'. it's appears (though i'm probably wrong) that you shot this with a wide angle and you were in just a bit too close. there's just something about the proportions that don't make this work for me. good job with the tones & lighting.
I really like it. The difference in skin tones is interesting. A little too harsh on the toddler's head. I know these are family members (at least I'm guessing), if we were going for mass appeal (instead of an intimate family portrait), I'd choose a smaller child who overwhelms his/her mother. I'm not going to hold that against you though. Well done. 8.
The tonalities on this are breathtaking. The dtermindely "non-cute" aspect of it is a breath of fresh air, as is the toally non-sexual take on nudity. Well done.
Perhaps the most exquisitely poignant and tasteful image in this challenge. I love the tonal range and detail. Such a beautiful moment captured, complete with emotion, texture, and depth. My choice for the blue.
A wonderful image of mother & child. Love the skin tones - especially the contrast between the light & darker skin. One of my favs in this challenge. 10.
What a big boy! His eyes are captivating and somehow does not look like an innocent child. The mother's back and his skin both are smooth and really capture nude. Great job.
Great lighting and skin tones on both subjects. The eyes of the child are so captivating. I like the black background and how both subjects float above it. Superb shot.
that back looks too young and fraile for that baby. And what a gorgous little fella he is. This is a beautiful image, so warming to the heart. I enjoy that the light really focuses on the little one and the motherly figure fades at the edges into the darkness.
