 Here I describe the quality of the .5 wide angle lens. It appears as shown in these photographs that they are pretty close. There is some minor degredation of picture quality but nothing terrible.

The sony dsc-f717 without the wide angle lens is on top.

With the wide angle lens is on bottom.
