In 1666 Newton did the experiments that he used to show that white light is composed of the colours of the rainbow. It has to be the start of an era in both science and art. The image has been cropped and sharpened.

I suspect the problem was that you forced the voters to read. Remember, you get only about three seconds from the average viewer, even if you do highlight the exact text they need. This got a 9 from me at the time, though in protest over the poorly designed challenge description, I didn't comment on anything.
My breakdown:
Relevance: 5
Technical: +1 (flawless highlighting of "each color is refracted by the prism" across three refracted colors gets you one of my very rare technical bonuses)
Interest: +2
Emotion: +0
Bias: +1 (I like anything that promotes science)
This is a bit discouraging. 50 or so votes at 3 or less, but no comments to tell me why they think it is a 'bad' photo.
Thank you very, very much to those who did make comments - I'm good at ideas, but a photo obviously needs to have a more universally aesthetic appeal to do well. I'm learning.
I think the dpc concept and website is the best ever. Kudos to all of you who keep it going. I'll be a paid member soon.
