i agree the horizon, and yeah i guess someone might have a problem with the prop being motion blurred, maybe it just isnt what they wanted. i think its an awesome photo and i know what the 1,2,3 stuff can feel like. thats just a natural averaging going on
Just read your post, thought I'd pass along what I see about this. And about the 1 and the few 2's you got, unless its really a spot on image, you are going to have a few of those no matter what it is. The biggest thing wrong in my book is the horizon is off. Then second thing that I don't really care for is the framing. I'd have put a little more space on the left side to give the plane somewhere to travel to. The sky would've enhanced the picture if you could've found a few clouds. As it is it seems really flat, which is a big negative side to sepia toned pictures. Clouds would've helped, IMO
Overall I think you got a pretty fair score. Its not a bad shot, however I think that there are 2 very controllable factors that would've improved the shot. The sky issue is out of your hands. Good luck :)
edit: Bye correcting the horizon you would also make the plane seem like it was going a little more up than it is, as it appears in the photo it seems to be going straight left
I didn't vote on this at all, so didn't vote it a 1, but I would have scored it down because the plane blends into the background very well. I might have wanted to see a bit more separation between the plane and the bushes/trees behind it. The sepia looks awesome, but also amplifies the lack of contrast there. Great shot compositionally though. Nice work.
Your choice of sepia tone is perfect. Great motion on the props and stop-action on the landing gear. (I certainly hope he's taking off and not landing...) A great capture! Congratulations on your sale!
Nice.
A couple of things to pick at- the border doesn't seem to match much, I think it would look better plain black. A little bit of the ol contrast could help this as well, to make it really 'pop'
I just hope he is takeoff and not landing. Looks like a Texas Navy Reserve bird. But then seeing it is Navy, he could very well be landing. From an old Air Force pilot. Nice photo
Minor Comment. i think a white border would have given it a more authentic feel. Basicly I don't like the border........... I know it's minor. GREAT SHOT. 10
