Thank you for all your comments.. believe it or not this was not shot thru glass and there was nothing over the lens.. however, I guess the sun was a bit of a give away.. it wasn't raining.. it was the spray from the boat that gave the illusion of rain.. I knew some of you would pick up on the cropping as well.. I tried to get the whole boat however we were going quite fast and it was very bumpy so pretty hard to hold the camera steady enough to be able to center the boat.. thanks again.
The out of focus droplets in the foreground are too distracting, gives the whole image an out of focus feel. I think the cropping could have also been reworked to include the entire ship. Lighting of the water in contrast with the dark mountains and sky in the background is interesting.
I like the photo of the ketch (or is it a yawl?) Well composed, colored, contrasted, et. al. It would appear that it was shot through glass that had been "sprinkled." The bright and obviously sunny water seems unrealistically at odds with the "rain."
I like it, but something tells me this should would have been altogether better without the rain, but then of course you wouldn't have entered it for the challenge.
Beautiful shot, but it looks like the rain is only on the window you're looking out of or it has been added via processing. It seems like there's too much glare on the water for it to really be raining. Still... A very pleasing image and nice composition.
This seems like an interesting illusion of rain. What's in front of the lens? It can't be rain because the water shows no splashes and the sun is reflecting much on the water's surface :) Good try :)
