Art League Houston Celebrates Past and Future with Artists' Installation
Houston sculptors Dan Havel and Dean Ruck will sculpturally alter two buildings in a Montrose neighborhood.
The project Inversion will transform two Art League houses on the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Willard Street. The Art League offered Havel and Ruck the old studio buildings before they are demolished this spring making way for a new Art League building.
The adjacent houses have been used for exhibition space and art classes for over thirty years. Havel and Ruck will create a large funnel-like vortex beginning from the west wall adjacent to Montrose Blvd. The exterior skin of the houses will be peeled off and used to create the narrowing spiral as it progresses eastward through the small central hallway connecting the two buildings and exiting through a small hole into an adjacent courtyard.

You know I really liked the idea of this, but really I realize I like the idea of the original art piece. I'm not sure how I feel about taking a picture of something and then taking credit for it. Unless you were involved in the making of the art work...
just my thoughts.
Now this is quite cool! I love the composition! You're centered but it doesn't look centered. It's a little flat though. I think it's the lighting. What time of day was it shot? From the shadows it looks like it was just before or after mid day. Much later (or earlier depending on how this is oriented according to the sun) would give it more depth and warmer tones. Great find though!

Heh ! Thats too cool. I did a photo of the same house for outside looking in. I had such a hard time finding a good angle with the lighting and such. But, its I think you did and awesome job !
One very cool shot! Don't know what the heck this is but you get a feeling of fast movement of the boards being sucked into the building. And without motion blur !!! Good job on exposure, as well. Very interesting image.
this is....very interesting. I had to stop and really look at it, and I still can't figure it out. I guess that is the point of this challenge though. Good job
'7' - Good shot, just like to see a wider angle, depending what is 'there'. Not sure if this is an illusion or some 'accident', but good capture nevertheless.
This is great. I haven't figured it out yet so I hope you share with us. Good luck!
Well I finally found the answer. //www.pbase.com/rosstomson/image/46430759
