At the surface of the mirror? I see some potential for this shot, but your focus seems to be off. My eye wanders around the shot looking for the focal point and can not find it. It's also a little distracting to have pieces cropped of at the edges. The lighting is also unimaginative making everything flat. Moving the lights around may have helped bring out the depth in this.

I don't se any connection to the challenge. Unsharp and harsh ligthing. There is to much clutter and therefore the eye doesn't know where to look. I therefore can only give 2 for trying.
I had to look long and hard at this to get it. I appreciate the effort, but feel that, with only the 'real' objects in sharp focus, the image lacks a little something overall.
i am curious to why you choose to half crop out a lot of the stones, and if it would have been more advantagious to just remove some of them from the frame?
First Impression: Well, I don't see the story. I see many loose peices, nicely spaced and placed, but I don't see the story.
Was I fooled? I think what might have helped is preperation. Clean mirror, no clues, such as the bottom left and upper right corner black cloth. To really fool people, try this again, but flip the image vertically. Your mind will tell you youre looking at a reflection, but it will be fooled, because the reflection is upside down.
I think I'm missing the illusion here... or perhaps the point. I'm trying to find the relationship between title and photo, but I just can't. The focus also seems to be a bit off; it could be crisper, and the black corner on the bottom left side is a bit distracting. Your subjects are lovely though, and I hope that perhaps it's just me missing the point, and that others do get it.
I'm sorry...this picture is just not visually appealing to me. I see the mirrored objects, but I do not like how they are set up. The colors clash and the lack of focus is distracting.
