This effect almost gives it the look of a quick sketch. I think it would probably be a good photo either more "realistic" or kept as is...I would like it either way. I think your crop and positioning of the boat and horizon on this are perfect.

Tagged! Really great composition and effect. B/W combined with high contrast works really well. Love the way everything fades into the edges. There is a slight yellow line at the bottom of the pic though, and an even smaller one at the top (maybe it is my monitor). Very peaceful.
I am a big fan of High Key photos, that is well known, but I don't think that it works for this photo. Not for me anyway. Sailboats in the water are so beautiful to me, the thought of blowing the contrast out seems almost sinful.
