David, don't let that crappy score bother you. That was the result of this submission being totally out of that week's challenge and people here are very picky about that. Even more so, since you submitted this B&W to a color challenge! :) I do like the emotional power of this shot and therefore would like to encourage you to continue shooting by any means. If you come up with something you care about but it doesn't fit the challenge, you could always submit it in a forum for critique and feedback. Some technical things: how about some rotation to level the steps, bit unfortunate that you just cut off his shoe, the more so since the person is the main subject of your picture. I like how you left the doorknob inside the picture there at the edge. It underscores the sense of being closed off, shut off from the rest of the world. I do like the emotion that the person conveys here; doesn't look staged or fake at all. Good job!

Well David, Like others, I guess I am confused as to how this fits into the Secondary colors challenge. I think that it has the feeling of sadness, which is represented by the color blue, which maybe fits into the primary colors challenge, but secondary, I just don't see.
As for the photo itself. I think that it's a great shot. An excellent black and white.
The shot seems to be leaning to the left a bit, however, the door seems straight, so it just looks odd to me.
The tones are good, nice white whites, and nice black blacks. Focus and clarity are excellent. Good texture on the bricks and bush, and the details in the shirt are really good as well.
It's an excellent shot, just not for this challenge.

straighten your horizon - don't cut off his shoes - maybe increase the contrast - lots of emotion here - but not much "technique" - I like the locked door - then of course there is that issue of color....6
black and white are not secondary colours. Grey may be accepted, but it wasn't called secondary colours in my art class. hmm....what should i rate this pic? it looks like a nice pic and i do like it a lot... if you had used Sephia, then i would have given much higher i guess. Dont worry, i'm not giving a 1 for this.
sorry, but i'm completely lost on how this photo relates to secondary colors. I'm sure there is some deep and intuitive interpretation of the challenge here, but I can't find it... = 3
I can't vote this very high, because, well, there are no secondary colors in it (because it's black-and-white). Not a bad image in general, but it doesn't fit the topic, IMHO.
Um, cant see what this has to do with secondary colours. Also, its cropped badly along the bottom (either crop the running shoes, or keep all of them in.
The camera isnt held level.
