great photo. I love the colors and the sharpness. The water droplets definitely add interest, and I like the reflection you captured of the objects. Good job!
After further looking, the peppers are made of wax, aren't they?
Nope, they are real. For all those who asked, the blue pepper is a common green bell pepper, color obtained thru hue adjustment. Note the bits of blue on the green stem of the yellow pepper. Just a bit too close in hue to differentiate from the green one.
In fact, this shot really gave me heartburn. I could not find a really deep green bell pepper, and so was forced to use the coolest light source possible, e.g. flash. This allowed me to differentiate between the green pepper and the yellow.
Since on-camera flash gave really poor results, I used a remote flash. But, lacking ability to synchronize the flash to the camera, I had to darken the room completely and use a 1/2second exposure, manually triggering the flash with my left hand just after triggering the remote release for the shutter with my right. I finished this thang at 04:00 AM, and I'm very happy about the 4th place showing (ohhh, so close!). I'm also very happy with all the constructive comments, 31 in all during the challenge. Thank you all.
I think this is excellently composed. I'll be interested in learning how you did the blue pepper. My one complaint is that I think the elements are too crowded in the frame - yellow and blue but up to the edge too closely. If they had more room to breathe this would be a stronger composition.
your shot has good design elements, simple but effective, one suggestion though is, i think it's much better if u used a knife without any text on it as it distracts the focus from the main subject due to it's placement in the foreground.....
one question... how the hell did u make the pepper blue?? :)
I must say, this is very interesting to look at. Your presentation is very nice. The lighting may need to be diffused some and some of the negative space in the top of the frame could be cropped out, but other then those two items, you have a nice shot that would make a good print. 8 -danny
How did you color the blue pepper? Simply an excellent job! This shot caught my eye imediately. Good lighting, composition, and sharp focus! I personally do not care for the reflections on the lower portion of the shot (I find them a tad distracting). Still earns double digits though.
love how you got that guy blue, the blue at the stem of the yellow pepper is a bit distracting to my eye, but i suppose it was unavoidable. great job - 8
interesing image for sure... the color change on the green pepper is bleeding over into your yellow pepper below the stem and making it look 'icky' around the stem...
That is one expensive knife! Great shot though I'd like to see the whole frame move down a bit so the peppers are closer to the top and the knife is a little higher, too. But that's a small matter. Excellent focus and DOF. Wonderful lighting and colors!
