This hard-working Chinese family own and operate a restaurant near my home. Dad and nephew cook, Mom and niece assist behind the counter bagging orders and the school-age children run the cash register and take orders. During slower periods the kids sit and do homework, read or play GameBoy.

Not a bad idea, to photograph a family buisness but this photo doesn´t really work in that regard as I have no clue on what the family buisness is after seeing this. What I am suggesting is that next time you take a step back and try an environmental portrait approach and show what it is that they are doing. I can´t tell if they are bagging groceries, sewing, wrapping a brand new 1Ds mkII in gift paper for your special someone or writing a nobel prize book
Also the image quality isn´t very good, there are a couple of very ood lines that lead through the lady in the bottom left corners face and over the yellow t-shirt and there doesn´t seem to be any one point in this shot that is spot on in focus.
I don't personally care for the soft focus, but it works alright here; the fact that the bag is fairly sharp makes it look like the blur wasn't intentional, which does detract from the shot. I'd have voted this higher if the girl's frontal lobe hadn't been sheared off by the edge of the frame.
In this case the shot is quite soft but, I like it ... I also like the subtle blend of colors ... I would have liked the shot not to include the plastic bag though ...
love this shot, I've always admired how Asian families work so hard to make a better life for future generations of their children. This shot captures it :)
