Not bad at all but I couldn´t give this more than 5 for 3 reasons.
1. It´s slanting slightly to the left.
2. The direct flash gives off hideous shadows, if the lighting isnt enough for ambient shooting, try bouncing the flash and if you can´t do that move them somewhere else.
3. The picture is a bit flat to work as a b/w shot, needs more contrast or something to make it pop more off the screen.
Anyway, not bad at all like I said and congratulations on the wedding, this shot is most definately fitting for this challenge.
Harsh shadows hurt the time you put into arranging this. The lighting on the subjects, however, looks good; soft shadows on the faces and nothing too bright or dark.
nice shot the shadows of the heads behind the backrow people is different ... I think I find it more distracting ...nice shot seems like a tall boy in the front row hope he likes basketball.
This is a strong photo, with good group composition. This needs backlighting to remove the shadows, or using a flash diffuser, or bouncing the flash off the ceiling. I would possibly have swapped the youngest lad with the eldest lad to reduce the difference between the eldest lad & the young girl, and reduce distraction from the father's face. The girl's head also blends in with the grandfathers chin, which is never a good thing, so either getting him to stand on a book or moving her slightly to her right would help.
Plastic, static smiles... i never could understand why anyone would make or want a photo like this. Nothing personal, and definitely nothing against the models. It just doesn't make sense to me, sorry.
Of technical aspects, you might want to either take shots like this farther from walls, or diffuse the flash with a diffuser or by bouncing it off of the ceiling. That would make the shadows on the wall much less defined.
Everybody looks so pleased to be there. I wish they weren't all so boxed in, but that's typical when groups of people are standing around and have to all be in a shot.
