My goal with this series of shots is to represent some stages through which a non-human (picture an anime android such as Armitage or Hannah's character in BladeRunner) goes through in the process of determining its "self".
In the initial frame we have the subject in a representative pose. It is attempting to fulfill its main directive by pleasing the one it serves.
We tried different serving positions but this representative approach worked best to convey the feeling I was looking for. The pale makeup with black lipstick and rosy cheeks which looked unreal in person loses some of its impact with the imposition of the red and blue filtered light but I felt that the colored light told the more important story so I left it.
