This is actually (1) of a set of 3 desktop lamps that I own. It's aluminum I believe. The circles in the photo are actually the top part of the lamp, that has some sort of opaque material inside to dampen the light. Minor editing - cropped and levels.

Not quite sure what this is, not really the circle shape, only shows half the circle, and a little dark on the bottom. Light spots aren't very appealing. IMO
This photo doesn't really meet the challenge very well. The circles are implied and don't represent a key element in the composition, as described in the challenge. It's an interesting image, to some extent, but it's a bit abstract and won't extract much 'wow' from the voting public.
I'm not even sure what the subject is... IMO the metal reflected the flash too much, so you have an awful glare across the top. You might have tried to lower the angle, and use the light from the inside, instead of the harsh flash. Or better yet, get a softer light to light the general area.
