Lighting is flat ... shot needs more saturation. Changing the angle might have given you a better use of background , the tree is not really adding anything.

Great! Now that song will be in my head for hours! I like how you composed this shot. Bumping contrast a touch would give it that extra zing...

I had similar problems to what i see here when i was outside taking pics - you need some fill flash! The sky is OK, but that leaves the canon underexposed - not a silhouette but not attracrtive either. The sky keeps pulling my eye.
