John, this is a beautiful picture. . .we ARE on the same wavelength aren't we? :) Congratulations on YOUR top 20 finish! I love the colors and composition of this one. The pinks mixed in with those old stones look fantastic!!
Thank you for your kind comment. Yours was deservedly better placed. I was in unfamiliar territory during a week-end away and had to make do with what was there and little opportunity to explore.
well done, yes we shared an idea but in my humble opinion yours should have done better. Great find and fabulous shot. Congratulations also on your personnal best.
It looks as though lighting condtions were a bit difficult - the sky looks to be a bit blown. The eye is certainly drawn in here, although I feel that the view through the arch at the end could perhaps be a little darker or brighter, so as to make it stnd out. The off-centre approach to the view along the corridor (cloister?) works well here.
Maybe if this had been shot later or earlier in the day, it may have had more "wow".
And it's just my preference, but I think black and white may have been good on this shot.
But a nice image none the less.
