Nice capture, but I don't think it quite meets the challenge - the subject of the photo is the welder and his torch, and metal is incidental at best.

obviously you know how to take a good photo! nice rich tones and good composition and use of your camera. the only thing not making it a 9 or 10 is the fact that I've seen many many images of this subject. 8

Would have liked to see more of the color brought out. It is a very nice shot. His head just seems a bit dark - I know, from the welder, but the red is such a nice color and would contrast nicely to his visor and glove colors. 7
