It probably was a difficult photo and a candid opportunity but to me the tree in the background is very distracting. With a fully green (blurred) background the bird would "stick out" much more. Apart from that the composition is good. The focus is also good.

Very cool shot! Really good detail. The sun is a tad harsh on the sunny side shoulder, but that's a bit of a nit. Very good color. 9 Rob the Swash (nearly a 10!)
