I have seen these fields of flowers around for years and they have always caught my eye. As I was returning home on Saturday this one particular field was covered in them I sat with my tele and cam for a half hour waiting for the elements to come together.

Man, this is beautiful.
It's because of pictures like this, that i hate myself at times. During voting had only given it a 7. I spent a lot of time on voting and commenting, and each week there are a couple that i just miss and don't give them the time of day they deserve (that's my biggest qualm of having to vote on 300+ pictures a week on a slow modem).
Composition - Most unusual field to find this horse. It gives it that WOW factor with the intense yellow in this photo. It makes for the horse in a pretty uniform background. I'm not so sure that it's the best contrast for the horse, but in terms of being original and different, it works very very well. The placement of the horse in the frame is very good. I'm not sure it wouldn't work anywhere in the frame though really. As far as horses as subjects, they are one of the most majestic creatures on earth and you don't see many bad pics of them. Great choice of subject in a very non-traditional setting.
Technique - Very well done, like always. The exposure, framing, and focus are all in very good order. DOF is great for this pic. I can't see the point of selective focus on this photo taken from this perspective. Nice work taking and editing this pic.
Overall - Just a great shot. Very well chosen and very well taken. The only thing that's been on my mind since I've been writing this is taking this pic so the horse is on the right side of the frame looking exactly as he does here and then flipping the image about the vertical axis. The reason I thought that is that if you put the horse with his rear at the outside of the pic and then have his head toward the middle, it might leave a little leading line from the outside into the center of the photo. It also might screw up a perfectly good pic. Maybe there's no good grounds for me saying what was on my mind, but I thought since it was there I'd share it. Congrats on a very nice pic Crab. - Bob
A very fine photo, should've done a lot better than the place you get. You have taken a cliche shot (horses in fields) and turned it into something a lot more interesting!!!
One of only two 10s for me.. I can't get over how absolutely beautiful the yellow is, and the perfect focus on the horse, and I couldn't possibly offer one suggestion to improve this.
This would make a beautiful print ! The white against the yellow is just beautiful. The composition, thirds, is perfect ! The color and lighting couldn't be better !
