The Emus at the Kamloops Wildlife Park were very curious, allowing me to get some really nice close-up shots. I loved the coloring on this one, and the eye is just fantastic. Hopefully it'll do pretty well.
Not much post-processing at all. A bit of over-all desat, and then re-saturated the blues and cyans, and selectively re-saturated the eye as well. Then I sharpened. Voila. (Also a touch of levels and auto-color)
Alright, I'm going out on a limb here.. I predict 6.5 - 6.8

Muwahahaha.. slowly but surely I'm bumping everyone off the *ist Ds highest rated page ;)
Easy there tiger! I plan on keeping my second portfolio space intact for at least a little while longer :P. I've never noticed an emu with such a cool blue coloured neck. Most of the ones I've encountered have just been plain old boring brown.
Well, I never would say that emus are an ugly bird, maybe more "interesting" than pretty, but certainly not ugly (well, okay - they're ugly after being hit by a semitrailer in the Outback with feathers strewn all over the place). Good shot, anyway, Glen. I wish I'd had time to bump it up, but at least you got a vote from me.
Love the title. Sharp focus where it needs to be, controlled dof.
Makes a decent portrait of an emu. (Was this the challenge for emus, or what?)
Good luck.
