Yaks are part of the Bovine family and are native to Tibet and Asia. They were domesticated around 1000 B.C.and are used as pack and saddle animals, are kept for milk, meat and skin. Its hair is used for ropes and wool and even the dung is dried and used as fuel because there are no trees in the bare Tibetan Plateaus. To the Tibetan, his Yak is also his motorcycle, his tractor, his refridgerator and an indicator of his wealth.
