Taken at 190mm. Not the right lens for the job... but what can I do.
This is so completely not DPC-friendly that I expect it to flop terribly, though I doubt it'll be worse than the 3.9xx I got for the Movie Titles challenge. Not only is this heavily (some would say too heavily) processed, but the composition and cropping are strange, and it's not pretty.
Bring on the knee-jerk threes and fours! Bring on the awkward comments! BRING IT ON!

Damn, I missed this photo before. Lucky thing I saw it now so I can scoop it for my favs! I didn't vote on this challenge, obviously, but you would've got a 10 from me, sorry.
this is great, think it would have scored higher
with the voters if it had been black/white.
just guessing
you could be right. this is definitely not the sort of thing that DPC voters tend to smile on.
I think you're right that it would have been less unappealing in B/W... but then again, it would never be beautiful. I think the yellows enhance the sort of nasty ghoulish effect... and since this picture couldn't be pretty if it tried, I figured I might as well go for the strongest impact possible (even if not a pleasant one).
I definatly love this picture... I gave it a ten and put it in my favorites. It is the unique compostion and the emotion behind it that I loved. I think it is absolutely beautiful, not at all gross.
Hey, this was one of only two tens I cast and I thought it was an awesome picture. I was disappointed that it was ranked so low and with the pics that eventually won. Oh well. DPC-friendly or not, this is a great pic.
ohh I love this picture! I like the teeth, I like how it make me feel, I like how it reminds me of being a kid. I like how clean and crisp it is. the list goes on and on. this is my vote for number one! 10 :)
This is quite odd, although I like how've you've created the ghoulish feel so this is a pretty cool shot. I'm not sure how well this will do but I like it so...8
Interesting colors, and a very disturbing grin. Sand flecks seem slightly out of focus, though the hair is sharp, making me wonder if the aperture was set very wide.
LOL! Where'd you find this character? I love the concept, the execution is great, and love how the rocks carry the same tones as his beard, skin and teeth (are those gold teeth on the left???).
OMG! This is great...kinda gross, but totally excellent! I would LOVE to see this billboard huge. The textures, the tonal range...the wit...absolute perfection...10
