This is one of the few still life shots I have done recently. This is a closeup view of a large arrangement of wine bottle corks. I just found the one that says

Setz, every once in a while, I see shots that break so many rules but still work as a total composition. This is one of them. There is SO MUCH going on in this shot that at first the eye is confused and doesn't know where to end up. But with the simple tonality and the simple lines it really doesn't matter too much. Wherever the eye lands there is a new detail for it to take in! I do find myself ending up on the dark cork, but that's OK cause with the lines leading away from it, I just start the journey all over again!

This is one of the few times I didn't make it to 100% of the images... Obviously I'm being punished for that. Lately I've really been appreciating simple compositions, and this is one of them. This image is so clean and crisp I can almost smell a faint residue of wine while viewing it. Not sure why it didn't place higher - this is outstanding work as always.
nice image, clever title. hope most people take the time to work through the image to figure it out. love the range of tones and the lines and angles. good luck!
......excellent collection. Effective basic 2x checker arrangement w/warm colour cork textures. Black and red corks break the brown uniformity. A traditional look with some stupid humor sandwiched in. Great light and superior technique.
