this looks like a beatiful place. in a strange way, though, the lighting gives it the feel of being an artificial set--like a museum display with a painted backdrop. i like the composition and subject matter, but it feels just a bit too sterile for me to connect with it emotionally.

Beautiful shot! Incredible lighting! I'll step out on a limb here and guess that this is Anza Borrego at the Visitor Center at sunrise. One of the LA DPC crew, perhaps? Forgive me if I'm wrong.
Very interesting use of light. I like how you put the brightest part of the sun behind the cactus. Looks like you used an off camera flash to the right. I think it came together well and keeps my eye interested and moving around the photo. 8
