There's some freaky history behind this place
//s.albalux.com/webpage/main.html
It was established in the 1880's as a way to cure mental illness. It sufered from overpopulation and they continued to build buildings to house patients. Shock therapy, lobotamies gave way to drug treatments and other methodologies. Slowly this place was abandoned with final closure in 1996. Parts have been turned into a state park.
Although both are abandoned there are differences in deterioration since the other buildings is made of brick.

This is a neat image...It makes you wonder about the big building behind the abandoned building. And you wonder why they havent torn it down yet, nice shot.
My eyes went immediately to the tall brick building and wondered what was abandoned, and then I noticed the structure at the bottom. I don't know how ya would fix it, but it seems that the "center of attention" is not the "abandoned" building.
Haha, when the picture first loaded up I first saw the title and this large and grand house and I thought; is this really an abandoned house??
Then I noticed the smaller house at the bottom which is certainly not as grand as the larger one. ;)
However, the composition isn't that great. I don't really like those architecture pictures where the photographer tilts the camera upwards (well not unless it is very well done). Here I'd have liked you to move further away from the building and keep the camera level and crop the bottom part off. (A tilt/shift lens would have been another option.)
