I hand built this Navajo Bean Pot in 1992 at Ghost Ranch Conference Center in northwest New Mexico, under the tutelage of Phillipe Ortega, an Apache/Navajo potter, using Micaceous clay, which allows this pot to be fully functional on a open fire, gas range, or other heat sourses. The shot was taken at my home, using simple single light source and sepia duotones to suggest the simplicity and "earthiness" of the traditional Navajo people in their daily lives.
