Chantal and Vincent are my neighbours. Vincent is soon to be 30 years old. He is a great poser, a good neighbour, well integrated in village life and will spend the rest of his life with his parents. I don't know if this image "captures" emotion but chantal's eyes sure tell a moving story.

Once again, I have the pleasure of studying one of your creations, adn getting to try and actually tell you something you need to do about it! Once again, I am hard pressed to find fault with this picture, but I can tell you what my opinions are on it, humble though they may be.
I love the pride and "dignity" that the man is showing. He seems pleased to be posing for you, and is a great capture of emotion. I assume Chantal is his mother, and though she looks more like, "okay, take the picture already," you can tell she is doing it because he enjoys it, adn that in itself gives her pleasure. Her stance is almost one of protection of him, and I wonder if the mood of the shot would be changed if their positions were reversed?
I am trained as a teacher for students with various "disabilities" (I prefer the term differences) so this shot really struck a nerve with me. So many times, society wants to cast those who are different away, or at least hide them. Vincent looks like to me he is ready to charge hell with a water pistol, and does not try to hide it. Judging from this shot, he has tried, and succeeded, and mom is very proud of him. Great emotional capture.
Technically, the background gives it a relaxed portrait mood (again contrasted with Vincent's pose), and the sepia tones are awesome. The only nitpicky critical thing I would say is that I wish he were further to the left of the frame. It feels like Chantal is crowded to me.
Marvelous feel to this photo. It was definitely one of my favorites from the moment I saw it. (I had a good idea it was yours too :) Congrats on another fine finish!
Oh, this is truly a wonderful photo. I'm sorry but I never got any voting completed in this past week's challenge due to personal problems but if I had, you would have received a "10" from me! I just love the sepia colour and the love showing in this fellow's face!
this is a truly awesome photo, i used to work with mentally disabled adults, and they are some of the most interesting and loving people. nice job bringing this to our attention
Congratulations on earning your ribbon. I must say that this was my first choice. The faces of the mother and son are crammed with emotion. It might be nice to give them a print.
A very well composed photo. I love the colour and the emotional aspect of it. Can I make a small suggestion though, I would have rathered seen the mother place her arm around her son to show an emotional love for her son but don't get me wrong it's a great photo all the same. 8 :)
I find the bamboo slightly distracting but I love the pose of both mother and son....nice photo. I deducted one point for bamboo but added one for it not being in color....10
I only give one ten a week, my personal scale. ANd this is most definately it!!!! I really hope this wins but I'll bet it makes it to the top five at least. A very nice portrait, and both look SOO PROUD!
Good portrait and I like the sepia tone that you've given this. I would like it better if the background were out-of-focus or otherwise eliminated or toned down.
A beautiful portrait. I'll have to be honest in saying that this doesn't seem to exemplify a particular emotion to me... but it's certainly a wonderful shot nonetheless. It also feels to me like it should be panned to the right just a teeny bit.
This is an excellent shot and the toning is also very nice... The environment you chose here for this photo may be just a little 'busy' because of the sharp contrasts in the background... great shot though :) - setzler
I really loved this image. The emotion coming from the mother and son is very deep indeed. I think that the B&W work well too. With regards to meeting the challenge you deserve first place. Well done and thank you for posting this shot.
