I was playing around with DOF and trying out my new tripod. This little guy wasn't even what I was originally going to photograph. However, he kept jumping up to the posts around me so I decided to give him the attention he was so desperately asking for. I'm a bit disappointed with the exposure as his face is a little blown, but I'm pretty happy with the DOF. I know some people might wonder how "sellable" this type of image would be. I think it would work for conservation, park or nature area brochures or on a more commercial aspect, bird seed/houses packaging

I think I would like this image more if the chickadee filled the frame more and if the exposure was just a tad darker. I think you could crop quite a bit off the top and to the rear of the bird and the picture wouldn’t suffer. This way the viewer could see a lot more detail in the feathers and the picture would be more interesting (for me anyway). However, the large empty space in the photo could be used to enter text which could make it more valuable as a stock photo. I do like that you have the bird slightly off center.
Very nice bokeh. Composition-wise, I think that cropping the left side and leaving more empty space on the right would create an illusion of looking into the distance. But I like it this way, too.
