In reply to your enquiry Steve,this is just a crop from my "Passing time" submission which was already a dark image but I used levels to increase the contrast to the point where I was happy with it then experimented with the "flood" filter which was mentioned in a recent thread by "Kylie" (if my memory serves me correctly).This produced the wavy reflection.
Very simple (has to be for me to achieve it).
