I added the banana because the apple (which was large) wouldn't cover my face. Either Magritte had access to huge apples or he was quite petite...maybe both. Also, I didn't have a hat on...I have a size 8 head...that's big...freakish, even. Basically, I can't find hats that fit unless I look reeeally hard.
Post processing included rotation, crop, color balance adjustments (it was cold and my face was red), levels, and some USM.
By the way, I held the apple in front of my face by putting a fork in my mouth and sticking the apple on the tines.
If you want some useless trivia, after the shoot, I ate the apple and it gave me food poisoning...I missed a day of work and lost a few pounds, so all in all, it wasn't a bad thing. Wait, yes it was.

One of the many art replicated ideas, but well executed. Even to the point where the objects in front of face feel edited instead of naturally composed.
I like the Magritte reference. I wish the background was simpler, ar a bit surreal in its own right. The busyness of branches distracts from the simpicity of your central image.
if I had the time to do a photo, this was exactly what I was going to do! great interp of a classic painting! It's great that you were able to find a place where you had a fence of sorts made from hard material, I believe the original work was a brick wall, so that definately reinforces that you are not strictly recreating the work, as does the combo of apple and bananna. I hope people voting will understand the reference. 10
