I'd like this a LOT more without the red food and water bowl in shot. A completely plain, pale background thrown out of focus by DOF settings (as it is now) would really show the cat off better, IMO.
I think the pose and capture of the cat itself is great.

I wanted the food bowl in the shot. If it was just a plain background, it probably would have been a boring photo. I wish I could have cropped a little different, but an ugly heating baseboard was just to the left of the bowl and I had to hide it. Plus it was pretty hard getting the cat to look up like that and stay, less try to pose her in an exact spot.
Cute cat (rather like mine), and the focus is superb. I give this high marks, but I'd still like to see more interesting light to make this image really pack a whollup.
Usually I don't like pet photos but this one is excellent! The shallow DOF is bang on and I just have to laugh at the cat's expression. It tells a whole story. Very good capture.
