Picture taken on the beach this afternoon (Jan, 27th) featuring three "Royal Terns". Upon seeing their funny little heads and remembering of the 48-hour challenge.
Its more of a 'candid' shot featuring birds, but fun non the less. I chose this particuliar pose as i find they sometime make wierd and fuzzy faces when cleaning themselves (hence the right Tern looking down) and decided this would make for an appealing shot of the birds.
Since i'm on a shitty laptop, i can't even tell if the pic appears right, so modifications were light. Small Hue, contrast and brightness adjustments, a closer crop and added a black frame (20x20).

love this, gave it an 8 during the challenge. for the most part, i can't imagine what you could do to have gotten more votes, given your editing situation...c'est la vie ;-)
Unless the light of the day was extremely dull, the image feels quite underexposed and really needs some work on the tones. I don't get feeling the two are watching what the third does, so it's quite asymmetric, like composed of two separate happenings. But there's potential on the idea, so maybe with retakes you're able to make it better.
Nice work!
Edit after the challenge: Sorry I hurried too fast with my comments here.
I like the focus here - sharp bird's feet and sand, with the soft foreground and a blurred background. I also really liked the colors, and especially of the orange beaks. However, now that I've seen stdavidsson's take on this shot, something between his level of brightness / color and your original variant would've been great.
If I stare at this long enough, I can find only one thing I'd like better about this: It would be nice if the bird on the left had its entire tail in the shot.
