A shot just for laughs- I wanted to do this with skis and poles, but beggars can't be choosers. ;-)
I walked down the slope backwards, while leaning on the sled to help cover my tracks. A folding camp stool positioned behind the tree allowed my daughter to hold her hands and feet off the ground. I was standing on top of a ladder to get a better angle.
I was going to have someone throw snow into the scene or toss a loose snowball at her back to get a burst of snow at the point of "impact," but it was so darn cold that I just rattled off some quick snapshots.
Processing: Crop, levels, shadow/highlight filter, some minor dodging and burning, a saturation boost, and I cloned out a few twigs and blemishes in the snow.

Shannon: boy, do you rock. Your images are not only original but a pleasure to look at exhibiting competent technique. Congratulations on your 9th placing.
I *knew* this was yours!!! lol
I almost mentioned your name in my comment but thought I'd better not just in case.
Now I want to do a shot just for laughs too. I'm not half as funny as you though so I probably couldn't pull it off.
Got quite a tickle from this...reminds me of those witches they had around Halloween. LOL! very much like your set up in this, how the path of the sled leads right to the tree and no evident footsteps around. Also like all the shadows over the path. Nicely composed.
I didn't want to like this photo; it is too "staged" for my taste, but when I looked closer at the shadows on the snow, the clarity of the kid, and the texture of the tree, I had to admit that I like it. 7
