This famous pyramid was designed by american architect I.M. Pei and built in the middle of the Louvre courtyard in 1989 to much controversy. Parisians hated it at first. On the other hand, they hated their Eiffel tower in 1889, too.
After the challenge: First of, thanks to everyone who liked the photo and let me earn my first ribbon! And I appreciate the comments a lot. It seems that some of the commenters found that people in the image were distracting while some others found them to be a nice touch. I was ambivalent about this issue myself, having taken this photo both with and without people, but in the end I decided that walking people make this otherwise very static and symmetric photo more "human". Besides, I like broken symmetries :).

Now I wish I had seen this when I was in Paris! Having the person there gives us a sense of scale. Thanks for the inspiration and well done on getting a ribbon.
oh wow, congratulations! i love the pyramid, even have a little collection of pictures with it... yours is certainly a one of a kind... lucky for you to be in paris at that time! irina.
Guess what?
I also took a similar picture for the challenge, but finally choosed a more panoramic one.
note: using longer exposure and fill flash set to its max power helps to remove the shadow into the upper left of the corridor. The problem is that it also partially removes the shadows from the "doors"
Nicely composed. I love the lines and the way all the elements are centered. THe bike is the only distraction and I don't think the people add anything. Still very good.
One of my favorites in this challenge. I love the perspective and the lighting sets a great tone. Good work getting the pyramid to be in such sharp focus.
