This pathway is just off the main road that I take to and from work every day. I have passed it every work day for the past 9 years. It's always been there, and I occasionally glance over (especially on the way home from work, as the lighting is better) and think "someday, I'm going to stop and take a picture of that." I never do. I forget, or get busy, or I'm in a hurry, or for whatever reason, I just never stop. Today I changed that.

I stopped the car on the way home from work and walked over to the fence where the path begins. The ground was quite muddy from all the days of rain recently. A large sign is posted that says "No Trespassing." It was kind of dark near the fence, and it was a little creepy. But looking up the pathway, the sun was glistening down, making beautiful patterns on the trees and the ground. I took several pictures from several angles, and this was my favorite. It's such a beautiful place; the picture really doesn't do it justice.

We miss a lot of opportunities because of the mundane routine of daily life...we're in a hurry, busy, or we forget...what kinds of wonderful things are awaiting us if we take the time to seize them when they present themselves to us? What would happen if we turn left instead of right? We could apply for a new job, go back to school, met new people, fall in love...the possibilities are endless. All we have to do is seize the moment - the opportunity - as soon as we notice it instead of procrastinating. I'm making it a point to maximize my opportunities this year. I hope you do as well. :o)

Beautiful shot! Thanks for the story behind it (no trespassing signs don't apply to photographers, I walk pass them all the time!). This has such a mystical look. As always, great job!

Wow! This is great Laurie! Photography is teaching me the importance of each moment, too. I finally realize that you'll never get that particlar moment back again, so you'd better live it while you can. Even when I'm on traffic duty each afternoon (I'm a teacher) I never fail to look around me and see what the trees look like today, what birds are flying overhead, what colors the sky is, what kind of clouds there are, etc. I think people passing by in cars with their cellphones to their ears must think I'm crazy, but I don't care. I'm enjoying taking in all the beauty in the moment and thanking God for the senses and the sensitivity to enjoy it!
