My son was working hard all day to get out his last milk tooth. Sometime in the evening he finally showed up in euphory with this bloody face and the tooth in his hand. I took a shot of the 'trophy'... Sorry for showing the blood but it was to demonstrate the weight of his final 'victory'.

I don't know what to think about this - too bizarrre. I don't know, and can't imagine, what kind of reaction you were expecting. The dired blood on the kid's face - the strange exhibitionist pose with the tooth, that's obviously been out for some time. There's a certain honest accuracy to the skin tones, and the flash hasn't completely overpowered everything, which is a refreshing change. On a fundamental level, I don't get it, don't get what this is doing in a photographic competition.
