The lighting of this photo makes it difficult to see the "Queen of the Damned." But it was an excellent concept.

1) i guess to light such things is quite difficult - and therefore most of the blacks (incl the queen) somehow vanish in the background

White balance appears off or as a warming filter was used. Dark pieces get lost in the background, including the queen.
